West Michigan Conservation Network members Shaun Howard and Ginny Wanty were recently guests of Cindy Kamp, host of Catalyst Radio at local community radio station, WYCE. Cindy interviewed Shaun and Ginny as part of the weekly public affairs series, focused on organizations and people working on social change and community support.
The duo shared their personal stories of how they became interested in environmental protection as well as the history and mission of the West Michigan Conservation Network. Shaun, currently The Nature Conservancy’s Eastern Lake Michigan Project Manager and Lead, Structure and Function Committee for the West Michigan Conservation Network (WMCN) spoke to the value of partnership of public and private organizations working together through the WMCN.
Ginny, a lifelong environmental educator and recently retired from her founding role in the Master Naturalist program at Michigan State University Extension, spoke about the importance of acting to prevent the spread of invasive plants in West Michigan. She also shared ways in which local listeners can become involved to make a difference in their communities.
